Solar post is a modern solar powered solution for exterior Waymarking

This innovative, environmentally friendly bollard is perfect for many external spaces that require waymarking posts that illuminate. 

Entirely self powered, the solar powered bollard post has built in solar panels that capture light from all angles.  The LED runs continuously at a low level to ensure that the bollard itself can be seen from a distance, and a downlight reflector is activated when proximity of movement is sensed by the PIR sensors which illuminates the pathway.

As the bollard is solar powered by its own integrated PV panels, there is no requirement to run power cables to the unit. This creates significant savings in trenching and running costs associated with mains powered units, and maintenance costs are drastically reduced.

The battery is charged throughout the day from the energy harvested from the solar panels. The Solar post control system has battery management technology which mitigates full discharge by reducing the LED brightness till there is sufficient ambient light to charge. 

The Solar post control system monitors the ambient light levels, anticipating the transition from day to night. The automatic transition allows for seasonal changes in light levels. During the night a high efficiency 180 lumens- per-watt white LED illuminates. The brightness of the LED is regulated by a pulse-width-modulation driver circuit, the LED remains at a low light level until activated by the passive infrared (PIR) sensors. The PIR sensors have a detection range of up to 5m, on approach the LED brightens for 10 seconds, gently dimming to the low level. The Solar post control unit is fully sealed and uses IPX7 connectors.

The standard product has a base plate mounting but there is an option also for a more cost-effective root mounting fixing that can be buried. We can send a technical specification on this if required. This product does comply with the new requirements for "bat-friendly lighting". Bats can not feed at night with light pollution in an upwards direction.

The LED runs continuously at a low level to ensure the post can be seen from a distance and the PIR sensor activates the LED to full brightness on approach.
